Social Media Managers 

Facebook:

  • Develop and implement strategy: what types of content should we post and when? What guidelines should we ask our followers to respect?
  • Ensure events are up-to-date
  • Monitor inbox, respond to and route messages as appropriate
  • Engage with commenters as appropriate

Instagram:

  • Develop and implement strategy
  • Find and post compelling and timely images
  • Engage commenters as appropriate

Twitter:  (currently on pause)

  • Schedule tweets based on actions and events.  

YouTube:

  • Organize channel and playlists
  • Refresh content with latest videos
  • Engage commenters as appropriate

Website:

  • Organize and develop content, other TBD
  • Update TXlege content, as needed.
  • Create a “Coalition and Allies” page, update accordingly.

Requirements:

  • In Austin or nearby, and proven familiarity with Indivisible Austin’s brand and mission. Ideally a longtime follower/subscriber/fan. 
  • Communications background, in nonprofit, corporate, or volunteer capacity
  • Impeccable spelling and grammar
  • Able to follow (and help evolve) social media guidelines

Calendar Editor

Duties:

  • Ensure Indivisible Austin and partner events appear consistently on all platforms (e.g. Facebook, website, Google calendar)
  • Research and post new events on calendars with board member approval

Requirements:

  • In Austin or nearby, and familiar with Indivisible Austin’s brand and mission. Ideally a longtime follower/subscriber/fan. 
  • Ability to research and post online using multiple platforms
  • Attention to detail 

Contributing Writers

Duties:

  • Contribute sections to our weekly newsletter*, including calls to action, organization and activist spotlights, TXLEGE highlights, and others. These would be short (50- to 150-word) blurbs.
  • Contribute longer form articles for use on Facebook, and other platforms. Articles should be 500 to 1,000 words and must align to the mission of Indivisible Austin, which focuses on local (emphasis on local) progressive advocacy, voting, and defense of Democracy. 
  • Script Writers (talking points for calls/office visits for specific bills)

Requirements:

  • Writers with professional experience are preferred but we are willing to work with young or inexperienced writers—particularly those who come from Black, Latino, LGBTQ, or other marginalized communities. 
  • Texas-based, or at least Texas-rooted. 
  • If writing on policy, some relevant background or expertise is required

Community Organizing

Outreach Assistants

Duties:

  • General outreach process  
    • Brainstorm/identify people/organizations
      • Catalog who has contacts with which organizations
    • Contact each person/entity
    • Communication to determine if interests/needs mesh
    • Confirm agreement, meeting, etc.
    • Final follow up to confirm/reiterate details.
    • Follow up, to help foster working relationship

Research Assistants

Duties:

  • Collaborate with board members, other volunteers to answer policy, news/media, etc. questions
  • Develop and/or edit visualizations (infographics, flowcharts, etc.)
  • Support crafting info/fact sheets and/or talking points and training materials on issues

  • Reliability and reliable communication

TX Lege 101 Assistants

Duties: 

  • to develop process for recruiting/training people to join this roles
  • help train people in how the TX Lege works and how to advocate there
  • research specific bills
  • script writers for talking points for calls/office visits for specific bills
