These candidates need our help to flip the Texas House
Not only is Texas now a swing state for the first time in over 40 years; for the first time in over 30 years we could flip the Texas House! This is extraordinarily important because not only can the Texas Legislature eviscerate any local progressive reforms (such as to curb police brutality), but also 2021 is the redistricting year. This may (literally) be our last chance to stop Republicans from gerrymandering us so badly that Texas is never in play again.
There have been tons of investment in Texas candidates and there are dozens of phonebanks happening right now. We’ve researched which candidates most need our help right now so that we can flip the Texas House. Note: This includes supporting incumbents! (Somewhat surprisingly, several Austin Area candidates really need help.)
Top Tier/Most In Need of Help:
- HD 14 Janet Dudding
- HD 32 Eric Holguin
- HD 52 James Talarico (inc), Austin area
- HD 20 Jessica Tiedt, Austin area
- HD 148 Penny Morales Shaw
- HD 47 Vicki Goodwin (inc), Austin Area
- HD 134 Ann Johnson
2nd Tier/Also Need Help
- HD 45 Erin Zwiener (inc), Austin area (Buda)
- HD 54 Keke Williams, Austin area-ish (Killeen)
- HD 93 Lydia Bean
- HD 28 Eliz Markowitz
- HD 115 Julie Johnson (inc)
- HD 64 Angela Brewer
You can also sign up for phonebanks by Powered By People, Beto O’Rourke’s organization, to make calls for some of these candidates as well as candidates in other flippable Texas Districts.

Austin moved $21 million from a massive $440 million police budget, with no officer layoffs. That first $21 million helped the city add 3 new ambulances and 67 new EMS responders, including 14 Community Health Paramedics. Police have been asked to handle all kinds of social problems that should not be met with punishment. #AustinIsSaferWhen we start funding the alternatives.

Congress Critter of the Week: Roger Williams
Rep. Roger Williams just can’t stop exhibiting questionable ethics. The Houston Chronicle reports that our TX25 congress critter “used his powerful post in Congress to try to help a top donor in his dealings with a publicly traded bank.”
Let’s not waste too much breath on Rep. Roger Williams. Julie Oliver is well within the “margin of hustle” to fire his useless arse.
