What if Trump refuses to leave?
Experts on authoritarianism have warned about this since Trump was elected: Will the elections be free and fair? If he loses, will he leave? The rest of the country is finally starting to take this threat seriously, and a new org, called Hold the Line, has developed a guide on the plausible ways Trump could refuse to step down, and what we can do about it.

Get involved in the “most important climate election in the country”
“The Texas Railroad Commission: It’s not about railroads.” (New website coming soon.)
Wildfires. Hurricanes. Extreme heat. Flooding. We all know what’s happening: we’re experiencing the climate crisis that experts have warned about for decades. It’s hard to know what we as citizens can do to confront an emergency of such epic proportions. One place to start is by supporting and amplifying what the New Republic called the “most important climate election in the country this cycle.”
We’re talking about Democrat Chrysta Castañeda’s bid for a seat on the Texas Railroad Commission—which would be more accurately called the Fossil Fuel Commission. Chrysta is running as a Democrat for one of the three seats on the Commission—which Republicans have dominated for 25 years. She’s running against a weak opponent with a history of corruption. In short, she has a real shot—if we all step up and support her.
