Apply to be an election poll worker
From MOVE Texas:
“In 2018, six out 10 poll workers were 61 and above. In the middle of this pandemic where our older generations are among the most vulnerable, us young people need to step up and protect our elders. Registered to vote? Great! Take your civic duty one step further and register to be a poll worker! Texas needs poll workers, Texas needs us.”
If you do not meet the eligibility requirements to be a poll worker, there are other opportunities to help save democracy. MOVE Texas is making calls to 300,000 unregistered Texans to make sure they’re registered to vote before the deadline.

5 p.m. Join Marj Halperin from Indivisible Chicago and Terry Maher from Bend the Arc: Champaign-Urbana as they teach you how to write a newsworthy press release, build meaningful relationships with the media, increase press coverage, and get your grassroots power covered in the news. We will also hear from Nick Uniejewski, Senior Regional Organizer at Indivisible (National), about federal priorities over the next few weeks.

Unlearning Circle – White Supremacy Culture
10 a.m. UWSA’s September Unlearning Circle will focus on the characteristic of fear of open conflict in the continuation of our series on White Culture Characteristics. Come and explore how fear of open conflict is both a barrier for our engagement in anti-racism work and also upholds white supremacy culture. This topic will address issues such as our socialization to value politeness at the expense of important changes and how civility shuts down conversations on race. In our unlearning circles, we engage in large and small group discussions to address racism at individual, cultural and systemic levels.

Turnout2020’s “Swing State Saturday” Call Event to Contact Texas Voters
Every Saturday at 3, 4, and 5 p.m. Central Time. Turnout2020 is a national phone banking campaign calling inconsistent Democratic swing state voters to urge them to take action.
On Saturdays, we’re calling Texas Democratic voters who are 65 and older to help them request a vote-by-mail ballot. Our script provides callers with talking points to help voters understand options, and our system allows volunteers to enter in the voter’s address for Texas election authorities to send a mail-in ballot request form.
